I am happy to be bringing a DBT Skills Group to North Scottsdale. This will be a closed group, meaning all participants must be signed up before the start of the group and new group members will not be added past the start date.
DBT stands for Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Dialectical means that two seemingly opposing ideas can both be true at the same time. An example of this is, things can be both black and white. DBT is a skills based therapy and often meets the needs for patients learning how to be more effective with their emotions.
In the six weeks of this group we will have two weeks of mindfulness skills; learning what it means to be in the present moment and how to be okay while doing so. There will be four weeks of emotion regulation skills; learning how to manage and cope with our emotions more effectively.
In August 2019 we will start another six week DBT group focused on distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness.
